No Place Like Home: Dog Bedding and Beds

Whether or not you are a crate person, your dog still needs a bed. While some people have no problem allowing the dog to sleep with them or on the couch, it is always a good idea to provide your canine companion with their own sleeping quarters. If you do not want a crate or a cage, you can simply consider a bed.

A bed keeps a dog warm and comfortable. It is snug place. It is his or her special escape hatch. It is a refuge in a busy world. As your dog ages, you may find this is the place where they choose to be more often than not.

Today’s marketplace is alive with choices. You can find all types of beds and bedding. They range in colors and designs. They are practical, durable and washable. They come in hues suitable to show off or accent your pet’s coloring. They can match the décor of your home. They can also address your dog’s basic needs.

Remember, what you see as attractive and useful may not appeal to your dog. You may be talking apples while he is seeing t-bone steaks. For you it may be about style, color and practicality. You want something that looks good. You also want something you can throw into the washer or quickly sponge down. Your dog, on the other hand, does not really care about color. How easy it is to clean is usually irrelevant. He or she simply wants something that in which they can curl up. They want a bed with a back. A dog likes to snuggle down when the weather is cold. They also want to be able to kick off the covers when it becomes too hot for comfort.

As is the case with much of life, you need to accept the inevitable. You both have to compromise. It is no good buying that beautiful print which matches the color of canine’s eyes if he will not use it. At the same time, you do not want something that looks like the dog just dragged it in. You have to decide on something the two of you can work with.

Whatever bed you decide to purchase, do keep in mind it is for your dog to enjoy. He or she must find comfort in lying in it. Your canine will sleep and lie there more frequently if the bed is suitable. If it is warm, comforting and comfortable place to lie down in, this new bed will quickly become your puppy’s favorite spot in the house.
